Vince Gill

Was guitarist and singer for Pure Prairie League from 1976 to '80 and a backup singer and guitarist for Rodney Crowell from 1980 to '84. Winner of 18 Grammys and 18 CMA Awards, as of early 2007. His charity work is well-respected, and he was the recipient of the CMA's 2006 Humanitarian Award. Is the only man who ever won the CMA Male Vocalist of the Year five years in a row (1991-95). Had minor roles in the1994 movies Maverick and 8 Seconds. Member of the Grand Ole Opry. In a TV GUIDE article by Michael Kaplan, the reporter says Gill received "enough gold and platinum awards to pave his driveway in precious metals" and that he "counts the thrill of playing [golf] with Arnold Palmer as second only to jamming with Chet Atkins." Has recorded duets with Barbra Streisand, Reba McEntire, Rosanne Cash, Patty Loveless, Emmylou Harris and wife Amy Grant. ~ Rovi
